It's been a few weeks since our last post. In that time, it's gotten a bit hotter hear in Oman, but that's about it. Grace and Nick finished up their soccer season with the league tournament two weeks ago. And with that, we had our Thursday mornings (virtual Saturday) free. Not that we've done too much to fill the time, but it has been nice not to have to rush out of the house on the first day of the weekend.
Last weekend Omanis, like many Muslims around the world, celebrated the birthday of the Prophet Mohammed. It was a national holiday in Oman and both TAISM and the Embassy were closed.
We had much fun over the course of the three day weekend, but the highlight was our trip to nearby Seefa Beach. Seefa is about an hour from Muscat and many people we know have been telling us how beautiful the beach there is. We went to Seefa for the day with friends from TAISM. Everyone had a great time swimming, playing soccer and boogie boarding.
Getting there took us through some very windy and steep roads as Oman has several coastal mountain ranges that are "fun" to traverse. I'm sure that we have some roads that go straight down on a 20 degree incline, but I don't think I've been on any. Add to this the fact that there were a few guard rails that were missing or bent and Katy was a bit white knuckled at times.
Another thing we enjoyed, but didn't take pictures of was passing through "Goat Town" a small town on the way to Seefa that we all thought had more goats than people. Lots of goats. Next time we'll get pictures of them too.
Ok, so enough about that. Enjoy the pictures. When you visit, we'll take you to Seefa.
